One of the highlights of the festive season in the Costa del Sol is definitely the Malaga Christmas light show.

Last Friday the Hollywood legend Antonio Banderas, who was born in Malaga, switched on the famed Malaga Christmas lights in Calle Larios. He was accompanied by the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, and the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre.  Banderas, who is currently starring in the show A Chorus Line in his Malaga theatre, said he was happy to be asked to flick the switch as this was his only chance to see the spectacle. “I would never have been able to see this in person,” he said.

This year the city’s light have three focal points. The first is Calle Larios, decorated under the theme of ‘The Forest of Christmas,’ featuring 22 arches with music and light shows three times every evening, at 6.30 pm, 8 pm and 9.30 pm every day from November 29 to January 5.

The songs selected to make the Christmas forest alive are:

“All I want for Christmas is you”, by Mariah Carey

“Jingle bell rock”, by Hilary Duff

“En Navidad”, by Javián, Alex, David Bustamante  and OT Academy with Rosana

“Never back down (Battlecry)”, from TSFH recorded by the Sofia Session Orchestra

In Calle Alcazabilla a Christmas tale is told with the help of “video mapping”, the projection of images on the façade of the Alzacaba. This performance will also be repeated three times each evening. Let’s not forget about the lights in the neighbouring streets to Larios, like the investment of and extra 265.999 euros in new lighting for the Alameda Principal, remodelled and opened to traffic and people just one month ago. Besides the light shows, make sure to also visit the traditional market in the Paseo del Parque, as well as a new Christmas market this year in the Plaza de la Marina with stalls selling local produce and handmade crafts.

Antonio Banderas is also an ambassador of a stunning new beachfront project in Malaga. The urban complex will be 86,963 m² and will consist of three residential towers with 21 stories each. The project will house a total of 213 homes between 132 m² and 404 m², and will have large terraces overlooking the Malaga Coast.

The first tower, called ‘Living’, will have three swimming pools; one heated and two outdoor; spa; gym; private movie theatre; games room, coworking area and even a crèche. The properties will be smart homes that are adapted to the latest technologies. This urban complex is expected to be finalised in 2023, although the first homes will begin to be delivered at the end of 2021. For more information call or email us:
